The time has come for me to retire my sea legs and resume writing on land. Monday, August 26 was my last official day as Writer-in-Residence on the Interisland Ferry. I’m indebted to the MV Tillikum crew for their warm hospitality this past year. They welcomed me warmly and shared a few stories. It seemed only right to express my gratitude with some fresh-baked goodies from Holly B’s Bakery on Lopez.

I’ll have much more to share in the coming months about my time as WIR. Hopefully, a new WIR will be selected in October (interested writers can read about applying at Wanted: Writer-in-Residence on the Interisland Ferry).
I know I’ll be back, laptop and journal in hand, because the MV Tillikum is the best place to write. Until then, I encourage everyone to walk aboard. Who knows what inspiration will follow?
