August 1, 2018 was my first day as the “official” Writer-in-Residence with the Washington State Ferries, the largest ferry system in the U.S. I’ll post here regularly with news of my role as the ferry system’s first-ever writer-in-residence. Over the next year, I’ll ride, read, and write aboard the M/V Tillikum, the vessel that routes passengers through the San Juan islands serviced by the state ferry system – Lopez (my home), Shaw, Orcas, and San Juan (Friday Harbor).
